The most northern part of Louisiana is thought of my many people that it is the king of hunting. There is some truth in this statement but when you consider the greater amount of money you will pay for this prime real estate, you might decide to drive a little more to center of the state so you can get a better deal. Red River, Washington, Tangipahoa, Concordia, and parts of Tensas Parish in Louisiana have great hunting, and if you look long enough in these areas you just might get a bargain. This of course depends on which part of the county you are looking for. Washington Parishes just north Covington of and will be cheaper because areas from this location are known as the hard hunting. I have hunted in this area before. Let me give you fair warning, if you shoot a deer you better put it down right then keep it out of the deep swamps.
The land east of this area is sought after by people in the Baton Rouge area and New Orleans area. This is what drives the price up for Tangipahoa, Washington Parishes. The hunting land in these Parishes are so accessible by I-55 and is close to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Are you looking for land for sale in Mississippi? If so, you will see lower prices and taxes as a general rule. This could possibly drive you a little further north to Lincoln or Copiah county because land sale prices are a lot lower. So far I haven't mentioned Walthall County Mississippi. This county has some good hunting land for sale if you just look in the right spot. The old farmland is still around in a few areas and has been good for the deer population.

Wilkinson County has great deer and duck hunting land with high land prices. Because it is such good hunting land, it is worth the drive. If it is worth the drive, what next? Pike and Amite Counties are good deer hunting properties and Amite has a much lower tax base and good access to Louisiana by I55- and some county roads for Amite and Pike/
